MFC 39: Powers in For Chiappe Versus Baghdad
By FCF Staff
Less than two weeks away from its January 17th card in Edmonton, Alberta, the Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that Ryan Chiappe has withdrawn from the event. As a result, Sean Powers has agreed to fight Mehdi Baghdad on short notice.
The reason for Chiappe’s withdrawal was not disclosed in the promotion’s announcement.
Powers (8-3) is coming of back-to-back wins, which includes a victory over David Allred at Bellator 90 last February.
Baghdad (9-3) is riding a five fight win streak and like Powers, will also be making his MFC debut.
MFC 39 will feature heavyweight champion Anthony Hamilton taking on Darrill Schoonover in the main event, and Kurt Southern fighting Tom Gallicchio to determine the promotion’s lightweight champion.
The event will be hosted by the Northlands Expo Center and the main card will be broadcast on AXS TV.
