Sam Alvey remains the Maximum Fighting Championship’s middleweight champ, as the TUF vet knocked out Wes Swofford in the fourth round Friday night, at the promotion’s 40th event.

In the card’s other title fight, Tom Gallicchio laid claim to the MFC lightweight title, by tapping out Kurt Southern with a first round, rear-naked-choke. It is the same technique Gallicchio used to defeat Southern in January, but because he failed to make weight for that fight, the BJJ black belt was ineligible for the title.

Here are the results from MFC 40, which was hosted by Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre.

Middleweight Championship

Sam Alvey def. Wes Swofford via knockout (punch) R4, 1:02

Lightweight Championship

Tom Gallicchio def. Kurt Southern via submission (rear-naked choke) R1, 4:11

Victor Valimaki def. Bill Widler via submission (rear-naked choke) R1, 3:36

Jesse Brock def. Kevin Croom via split decision

Marcus Edwards def. Aaron Gallant via submission (rear-naked choke) R1, 4:51

Shane Campbell def. Jerrid Burke via TKO (strikes) R2, 0:43

Corey Gower def. Jon Barnard via split decision

Levon Kinley def. Cody Moorman via submission (guillotine choke), R1, 4:26

Mike Hay def. Justin Lavertu via submission (triangle choke) R1, 3:27
