MFC Announces Return of TUF Vet Ryan McGillivray

By FCF Staff

Former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor Ryan McGillivray is returning to the promotion that began his pro career, as the Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that the welterweight will compete on its upcoming January 27th card.

Who McGillivray will fight at MFC 32 in Edmonton, Alberta will be announced shortly.

“There were a lot of factors in my decision to be back in the MFC,” McGillivray was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion.“I got tired of dealing with the people in other organizations. I just want to fight and the MFC is the best platform for me to do that.”

McGillivray (11-5-1) exited from the UFC following a unanimous decision loss to Shamar Bailey at the TUF 13 Finale this past June.  Prior to the defeat, McGillivray had gone undefeated in four bouts, and scored wins over Canadian vets Andrew Buckland and Markhaile Wedderburn.

“You’re only as good as your last fight. Dhiego Lima and Sheldon Westcott are both doing very well, but come January I’m going to show where I belong amongst them,” noted McGillivray, who has spent time training with the renowned Jackson’s MMA team in New Mexico.

“My stand-up has never been better. I was never known as a stand-up fighter. I’d look to take it to the ground. Now I think I’ve got a vastly underrated stand-up game.”

MFC 32 “Bitter Rivals” will be hosted by Edmonton’s Mayfield Conference Centre and will be broadcast live on HDNet.
