It remains to be seen who Michael Chandler will face in his UFC debut. But while discussing the promotion’s top lightweights recently, the former Bellator champ said Tony Ferguson is “the scariest guy” on the roster.

Following Chandler’s (21-5) quick, KO win over Benson Henderson in August, the powerful wrestler entered free agency and signed with the UFC.

During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Chandler was asked to weigh-in on the UFC’s top lightweights. While discussing Ferguson, Chandler said this.

“Tony Ferguson’s the scariest guy on the roster. He’s got a screw loose. He never gets tired. You have to separate him from consciousness. That’s what excites me about Tony Ferguson. Getting thrown into the deepest, darkest depths of the UFC roster is exactly what stepping in the cage with Tony Ferguson is.

“That’s why I was willing to do it first fight in the UFC. That’s why I said yes to that fight and I needed him to say yes and he didn’t. I’m excited about that fight. That would be a great, great fight and we would get Fight of the Night.”

Ferguson (25-4), who is currently in the midst of a contract dispute with the UFC, is coming off a stoppage loss to Justin Gaethje in May. Prior to the defeat ‘El Cucuy’ had won 12 straight.
