Colby Covington has been driving for a rematch with welterweight champ, Kamaru Usman, but Michael Chiesa is still hoping to face “Chaos” next.

Following Chiesa’s decision win over Rafael dos Anjos last month, the former welterweight called out Covington. While talking to MMA Junkie more recently, Chiesa had this to say about his next opponent, and a timeline for his next bout.

“I don’t want to fight ‘Wonderboy’ (Stephen Thompson) I like him, but he’s ahead of me,” Chiesa said. “My sights are still set on Colby, (but) who knows what he’s going to do. There’s the (Demian) Maia-(Gilbert)Burns (fight), whoever wins out of that. I’m looking up there, and it’s because I reserve the right.

“I’d like to think July sounds good. But they keep talking about this UFC Seattle show, and I’d like to find out the date on that, because that would be cool to fight in my home state, especially when there’s a good chance I’d get a main event spot.”

Since moving up to 170 in 2018, Chiesa (17-4) has defeated Carlos Condit, Diego Sanchez and RDA, and is currently ranked #7 in the division.
