Miesha Tate to Face Amanda Nunes in First Title Defense
By FCF Staff
Miesha Tate will not sit on the sidelines until Ronda Rousey returns to the cage later this year, as the UFC has announced that the new bantamweight champ will face Amanda Nunes next. The bout will be part of the July 9th, UFC 200 card in Las Vegas.
Tate (18-5) choked out Holly Holm in March to take the 135 title, and in doing so, extended her winning streak to five. After the win, there was considerable talk and speculation, as to whether the UFC would have Tate fight Rousey next. The rivals have fought twice before and Rousey has won both bouts.
Nunes (12-4) has won three straight fights and most recently decisioned Valentina Shevchenko in March. Nunes is ranked #4 in the bantamweight division.
UFC 200 will be headlined by a welterweight fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
