Mike Swick Withdraws from UFC 134 Due to Injury

By FCF Staff

Mike Swick continues to endure tough times, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that the welterweight will not fight Erick Silva, August 27th as scheduled due an injury. A replacement for the American Kickboxing Academy fighter will be announced shortly.

Swick has not competed now since February, 2010, when he was choked out by Paulo Thiago in the second round at UFC 109. Since then, the former TUF competitor has been forced to deal with a misdiagnosed stomach ailment and other health issues.

Prior to his loss to Thiago, Swick had won four straight bouts, which included wins over Josh Burkman, Jonathan Goulet, Marcus Davis, and Ben Saunders.

The 32 year-old-fighter’s record stands at 14-4.

UFC 134 will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena and will feature a middleweight bout between champion Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami in the main event.
