Mousasi Calls Out Machida After “The Dragon’s” UFN 30 Win

Mousasi

By FCF Staff

Gegard Mousasi has been saying for sometime now that he plans on moving back to the middleweight division, when he returns from knee surgery, and the former Strikeforce champ has apparently set his sites on fighting Lyoto Machida.

Mousasi, who hasn’t fought since April when he scored a unanimous decision win over Ilir Latifi at UFC on FUEL TV 9, tweeted Saturday:

I want to make an impact in MW division and fight Machida!

While Mousasi is currently ranked as the promotion’s #9 light-heavyweight, and Machida is #6th, chances are the UFC will look to book a top middleweight contender versus the latter next. According to a report from MMA Junkie.com, UFC President Dana White said he’s been hearing from plenty of fans that they want to see Machida fight Vitor Belfort next.

Belfort is scheduled to fight Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 32 on November 9th.
