MTV Announces New MMA Docu-Series

By FCF Staff

MTV will be adding more MMA content to its programming in 2012, as the network has announced that a new documentary series titled “Caged” will premiere January 9th. According to a press release from the network, the program follows “a diverse group of young adults in small town Louisiana” who have turned in part to mixed-martial arts, “to improve their lives and find their way in the world after high school graduation.”

“Caged,” which will document the lives and MMA related experiences of “Daniel, Wes, Red (Jessica), and Danger”, will also air internationally on various MTV channels in 2012.

The program marks the latest MMA content to be featured by MTV, as the network also broadcasts “Bully Beatdown,” a show hosted by UFC middleweight Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

MTV 2 is currently the broadcasting home of Bellator Fighting Championships, which parent company Viacom recently bought a majority interest in.

In 2013, fellow Viacom property Spike TV will begin airing Bellator events.
