Accomplished Striker Has Signed New Deal With Promotion

The Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that two of its fastest rising commodities in Mukai Maromo and Graham Spencer will square off for the promotion’s vacant lightweight belt, February 15th in Edmonton, Alberta.

In addition, the MFC has confirmed that it has signed Maromo to a new multi-fight deal.

The decorated Muay Thai competitor is coming off a second round, KO win over Adam Lynn in August, after defeating the vet by split decision in May. The second Maromo, Lynn bout was originally to determine the MFC lightweight champ; however, the bout became a non-title affair after Lynn failed to make weight.

“All along my plan has been to become the MFC lightweight champ,” Maromo (8-2) was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I want to become the first Canadian-based fighter to win that belt. I want to make that mark, and then I want to defend the title successfully. After that I’ll see where my journey takes me next.”

Maromo and Spencer met once before in December, 2010, and the bout featured Spencer (9-1) working his way to a unanimous decision win.

The Impact MMA fighter, who is coming off a UD win over UFC vet Shane Nelson in October, is widely considered to be one of Canada’s top featherweights.

“Many fans and mixed martial arts insiders already view Mukai as the uncrowned champion. Well, what a better way to prove that you truly are the champion than by getting a measure of revenge against the last guy to beat you,” said MFC owner Mark Pavelich.

The upcoming event will be hosted by Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre and will be broadcast live on AXS TV.
