Nam Phan Replaces Josh Grispi at UFC 136

By FCF Staff

Nam Phan already has another fight booked following his unanimous decision loss to Mike Brown at UFC 133 last weekend, as the UFC has announced that the featherweight will replace Josh Grispi versus Matt Grice on October 8th. No details regarding Grispi’s withdrawal from the UFC 136 card were given.

The loss to Brown marked Phan’s (16-9) (pictured) second consecutive loss, after the former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor was handed a controversial split decision defeat when he fought Leonard Garcia in December.

Grice (14-4) is coming off a stoppage loss to Ricardo Lamas at UFC Live 4 in June, which ended the experienced wrestler’s four fight winning streak while competing outside the UFC.

UFC 136 will be hosted by Houston’s Toyota Center and will feature lightweight champion Frankie Edgar fighting Gray Maynard for a third time, as well as featherweight champion Jose Aldo versus Kenny Florian in the main events.

Some of the other bouts scheduled for the October 8th card include Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann, Dave Herman vs. Mike Russow and Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon.
