Although longtime training partner Gilbert Melendez recently resigned with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Nate Diaz took to Twitter Wednesday to request his release from the world’s biggest MMA promotion.

The 28 year-old fighter, who is coming off a quick stoppage win over Gray Maynard in November, posted via Twitter:

@ufc @danawhite I would like to request to be released from the @ufc Its time for me to be on my way .. ?

UFC President Dana White did not respond to the tweet. Prior to facing Maynard, Diaz dropped consecutive bouts to Josh Thomson and Benson Henderson, after winning three straight.
