By FCF Staff
Last week it was reported that Nate Diaz’s meeting with UFC executives Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta included some heated moments, but the fighter is downplaying talk of a rift.
Diaz met with White and Fertitta last week in Stockton, to discuss the promotion’s plans for a rematch with Conor McGregor. After the meeting White reported that he hadn’t had a “good day”.
Well, Diaz appeared on “The MMA Hour” on Wednesday, and had this to say about the meeting and the follow up reports (quote via MMA Fighting.com).
“That was exaggerated. We finished talking and then we walked out. It wasn’t the worst meeting. It wasn’t the best meeting but it wasn’t the worst meeting.
During the interview, Diaz also confirmed that the UFC is hoping to book McGregor – Diaz II for UFC 202 in August. The outspoken fighter also relayed that he’s hoping to land more “compensation” for the rematch, and that negotiations are “moving forward”.
Diaz submitted McGregor in the second round at UFC 196 in March.
