Nate Marquardt Apologizes to Fans and UFC for Failing Medicals

By FCF Staff

One day after Nate Marquardt was removed from tonight’s UFC Live on Versus card due to failing his pre-fight medicals, the veteran fighter has apologized to his fans and the UFC via his official Twitter account.

I’m sorry to all my fans and the UFC for not passing the medicals for tonight’s fight. I’m heart broken I couldn’t fight, but I will b back

The statement is Marquardt’s first public comment on yesterday’s events, which included President Dana White announcing that the 32 year-old-fighter had been released from the UFC.

No details regarding the specific reason as to why the former middleweight contender was not medically cleared  have been released. The scheduled bout with Rick Story was set to be Marquardt’s first UFC appearance at welterweight.

Charlie Brenneman, who had been scheduled to fight TJ Grant until he withdrew due to illness, will replace Marquardt.

The heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry will be tonight’s main event.

Tonight’s UFC Live on Versus card will be hosted by Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Engery Centre and will be broadcast live on the Versus Network.
