Canelo Alvarez may be one of the most respected fighters in all of boxing, but Nick Diaz maintains he would defeat the star, if the two were to box at his weight.

Alvarez is coming off a much debated, majority decision win over Gennady Golovkin last month. Recently TMZ caught up with Diaz, and while discussing whether he’d take a boxing match with someone like Canelo, the UFC veteran said this (quotes via Bloody Elbow):

“[Alvarez] is coming up to 168 and he’s fighting some no names. At the end of the day you’ll make more money fighting me,” said Diaz.

“If y’all gonna make all that money; these guys are making billions of dollars now, millions of dollars now — I’m a better fighter. I’m a bigger draw”

“Let’s be real Canelo moving up to my weight, he ain’t gonna win that fight. No way, come on man. You’re just basically one of them little guys I spar on before I fight … I am a professional fighter. I’ve had over 37 fights.”

The 35 year-old Diaz hasn’t fought now since January, 2015, when he faced former, middleweight UFC champ Anderson Silva.
