Calgary’s only fighter signed to the UFC will in fact fight at the promotion’s July 21st card scheduled to take place in the city, as Nick Ring will rematch fellow TUF vet Court McGee at the event.

Following a recent UFC press conference in Calgary to confirm the upcoming card, Ring relayed to FCF that although he was hoping to fight on the card, he hadn’t received any word as to whether it would happen.

After a report from MMA Junkie stating that Ring will fight McGee at UFC 149, the middleweight confirmed to FCF that the bout is indeed taking place. The UFC has not officially announced the bout.

When the two first squared off during the eleventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, Ring narrowly got by McGee with a majority decision win. Ring eventually withdrew from the competition due to a knee injury and McGee went on to win the show, after receiving a second entrance into the tourney.

Since the show Ring (12-1) has gone 2-1 in UFC competition, with wins coming over Riki Fukuda and James Head, and a loss stemming from his September bout with Tim Boetsch.

McGee (14-2) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Constantinos Philippou earlier this month, after earning victories over Ryan Jensen and Dongi Yang.

UFC 149 will be hosted by Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome and will feature a title defense from featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Who Aldo will meet for the title has not been announced.
