Nik Lentz Stepping in for Injured Paul Sass at UFC on FOX 2
By FCF Staff
Nik Lentz won’t have to wait long for an opportunity to get back on the winning track, following his loss to Mark Bocek on December 10th, as the UFC has announced that the lightweight is stepping in for the injured Paul Sass, January 28th.
Sass was scheduled to fight Evan Dunham at the UFC on FOX 2 card in Chicago, however, an undisclosed injury will prevent him from competing.
Dunham (12-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Shamar Bailey in September, after dropping consecutive bouts to Sean Sherk and more recently Melvin Guillard.
Lentz (21-4-2) had gone undefeated in 15 straight fights prior to his aforementioned, unanimous decision loss to Bocek at UFC 140.
The UFC has also announced that Eddie Wineland has also been forced to withdraw from the UFC on FOX 2 card. The search for a replacement to fight bantamweight Johnny Bedford is reportedly underway.
The upcoming January 28th event will feature former light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis, middleweight Mark Munoz vs. Chael Sonnen and Demian Maia vs. middleweight Michael Bisping on the FOX broadcast.
