Following his championship performance at the 2011 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling tournament this weekend in England, Vinny Magalhaes will continue to keep an active schedule over the coming weeks. Not only will the M-1 Global Light-Heavyweight Champion look to defend his belt on October 14th in Phoenix, Arizona, but Magalhaes may fight on the promotion’s upcoming November 20^th event in Moscow, Russia as well.

In addition, while speaking to FCF earlier today, M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan revealed that the November fight could take place at heavyweight.

“We’re talking about giving Vinny a heavyweight fight because he’s been asking for that for a long time,” said Kogan about the renowned jiu-jitsu competitor, who defeated Fabricio Werdum on points to win Gold Medal honors in the over 99kg ADCC division. “I think it’s interesting to him because he doesn’t need to cut any weight because he weighs what a lot of our heavyweights weigh anyways.”

According to Kogan, if Magalhaes (8-5) makes it through his upcoming, October 14^th title fight with Mikhail Zayats (14-5) unscathed, the light-heavyweight champ could face heavyweight Dmitry Zabolotny on November 20^th.

Zabolotny (13-3) is coming off a first round, TKO stoppage win over Samir Bourekba in July and has won nine straight fights.

Magalhaes fought last in April and submitted Viktor Nemkov in the third round to extend his win streak to four.

The upcoming October 14^th, M-1 Global card will be hosted by The Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix and will be broadcast on Showtime. The card’s headliner will see heavyweight champion Guram Gugenishvili take on Kenny Garner.

The promotion’s November 20^th event will feature Fedor Emelianenko versus Jeff Monson in the main event.

Although no broadcast plans have been confirmed by M-1 Global yet, Kogan informed FCF earlier today that the Moscow card will be available via online pay-per-view if no television agreement is signed.
