NSAC Releases Figures for UFC 137; Card Falls Short of Sellout
Over 10,000 people were in attendance to watch Nick Diaz’s unanimous decision win over BJ Penn at the recent UFC 137 card in Las Vegas, according to figures released today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
The NSAC is reporting that 8,179 tickets were sold for the October 29th event, and that the promotion issued 2,134 complimentary tickets, for a total attendance of 10,313. The number of tickets that went unsold was 409.
The UFC 137 event’s live gate total was $3,900,650.
According to the NSAC, the closed circuit feed that was hosted by the city’s Mandalay Bay, sold 523 tickets and 200 complimentary tickets were issued for a live gate total of $26,150.
UFC 137 was originally set to feature Diaz challenging UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, however, the former Strikeforce champ was pulled from the fight after failing to attend two pre-fight press conferences.
After St. Pierre was forced to withdraw from his bout with replacement Carlos Condit, due to injury, the Diaz, Penn bout was positioned as the card’s main event.
