ONE FC 12: Headliner Kayoom Withdraws Due to Injury, Pinto Steps In
By FCF Staff
Just days before ONE FC will hold it’s “Warrior Spirit” event on November 15th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the promotion has announced that headliner Adam Kayoom has withdrawn due to a broken rib. Kayoom was set to battle Nobutatsu Suzuki for the inaugural ONE FC welterweight title. As a result of the injury, Vitor Pinto has agreed to face Suzuki at ONE FC 12; however, the bout will be a non-title affair.
Pinto (7-0) has gone undefeated since he turned pro in 2011, and most recently the Portuguese fighter submitted Renato de Paula Amaral da Costa, while competing for Acores MMA last month.
Suzuki (10-1-2) hasn’t fought since May when he stopped UFC vet Phil Baroni in the first round at ONE FC 9.
The promotion has also confirmed two more bouts for Friday’s card, as Adrian Moraes will fight bantamweight vet Yusup Saadulaev, and Chris Lokteff will battle heavyweight Tony Johnson.
ONE FC 12 will be available for viewing throughout North America via online pay-per-view.
