Fans likely saw the last appearance of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in The Octagon at UFC on FOX 6 last night.

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson likely stepped out of the UFC octagon for the last time after losing a unanimous decision against Glover Teixeira last night at UFC on FOX 6.

Teixeira was able to rock Rampage several times during the fight, and Rampage wasn’t able to put Teixeira in any significant danger.  By the second round, it looked like continued punishment against Rampage made the former champion gas, as he was noticeably breathing heavy.

Rampage was unable to stop continued body shots as he became tired, with Teixeira finishing the fight in full mount.

It’s a shame to see Rampage seemingly surround himself with ‘yes men’ as he clearly hasn’t gotten the most out of his UFC MMA career.  Don’t get me wrong: Rampage was able to unify the UFC light heavyweight championship and PRIDE middleweight championship when he beat Dan Henderson at UFC 75, but couldn’t put together a solid winning streak in the UFC.

Rampage has lost three straight fights dating back to UFC 135 in September 2011 – and even with strong marketing potential, he won’t be able to get big money outside the UFC.  Unless he sticks with acting, his MMA and pro boxing aspirations are going to lead him into training camps and fights for smaller paychecks.

Forget Rampage trying to be a full-time training partner or coach to others, because those were never two of his strong suits.

Whatever happens to him in the future, I hope he has a safe and happy existence in the world, even if he doesn’t fight again.
