From Josh Hedges/Zuffa: Ortiz and Shamrock on Best Damn Sports Show Tomorrow  On Thursday, August 29th, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz and his challenger, UFC legend Ken Shamrock will appear on Fox Sports Net’s "Best Damn Sports Show, Period". Ortiz will be live in studio and Shamrock will be live via satellite. The personal vendetta between these two is so serious that they can’t even be in the same studio together. The two-hour show airs nightly at 8:00 p.m. and/or 11:00 p.m. local time on most Fox Sports Net regional sports networks, and at 10:00 p.m. and midnight on FSN Bay Area, Chicago, Florida, New England, New York and Ohio. |

From the event’s promoter: SportFighting on The Reservation, Schedule for Saturday, September 14th has officially been cancelled: The Onondaga Nation’s Lawyer issued us a letter on August 27th stating that our event scheduled for September 14th in Nedrow, NY has been 100% cancelled. No reason was given and they will not accept our phone calls. They wrote, "I regret to inform you that the Nation and the Arena are forced to exercise their rights under Section 1.3 of the July 4th, 2002 Rental Agreement and are hereby canceling your company’s scheduled use of the arena floor, pursuant to the Agreement." Here is an excerpt from the contract: "Section 1.3 – Upon reasonable notice shall be at least thirty (30) days, The Onondaga Nation reserves the right to cancel any date or change the time for usage…" As many of you can clearly read, what Section 1.3 states makes no sense, because we were just served this letter today, August 27th, only 18 days before the event. We built this event around the City of Syracuse and recruited fighters from around that region. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars on promotional advertising on radio, posters, direct mailings, time, etc., and as you can imagine, we are devastated, to say the least. We attempted to move the event to New Jersey and I was even able to secure a venue, but it came to my attention today that only approx. four (4) of the scheduled 14 matches would be able to occur between the New Jersey Athletic Control Board regulations AND inabilities of several of the Central New York native fighters to make the 4-5 hour trip to New Jersey to fight. We are forced to refund almost 900 tickets sold as well, due to the inability for many of the local spectators to attend the show in New Jersey. It is with this very unfortunate post that I must inform you all the SportFighting on the Reservation has been 100% cancelled. We will attempt to salvage several of the scheduled bouts for the now NEW PREMIER of SportFighting, Saturday, November 9th, 2002 at Marist High School in Bayonne, New Jersey. My deepest apoligies to all the fighters and instructors who have supported me along the way. I know you all worked so hard to support me and I truthfully appreciate it. I hope this in no way changes your opinions of me. I tried everything in my power to salvage the September 14th show to no avail.
