After weeks of speculation as to whether a third bout between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz will happen, Oscar De La Hoya has announced that the fight is signed.

Recently De La Hoya informed ESPN that Liddell – Ortiz III will be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions:

“I’m proud to announce we’ve signed a deal for the fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz,” De La Hoya said. “This will be huge for sports fans around the world. Ortiz and Liddell are two of the most recognized fighters in MMA history. They are legends in the sport.

“Everyone remembers their rivalry helped put the sport on the map, and we’re excited to host the next and final chapter of this historic rivalry.”

Details regarding the date and venue for the pay-per-view bout are expected to be announced soon.

Liddell and Ortiz fought in 2004 and 2006, and the latter was stopped in both bouts. The 48 year-old Liddell hasn’t competed since 2010, when he was knocked out by Rich Franklin at UFC 115. The defeat was the former light-heavyweight champ’s third in a row.

The 43 year-old Ortiz is coming off a submission win over Chael Sonnen in January, 2017. The former UFC champ is 3-2 in his last 5 fights.
