Pat Curran KO’s Marlon Sandro to Take Bellator Featherweight Tourney

Pat Curran will be the next man to challenge Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Warren, as the former lightweight KO’d Marlon Sandro with a highlight reel head kick last night in Uncasville, to win the promotion’s “Summer Series” tournament.

Curran caught the former Sengoku champion with a right kick to the head in round two of the finals, and then finished the deal with a series of follow up punches. With the tourney win, Curran collected $100,000 from the promotion and extended his record to 15-4. After incurring just his second pro defeat, Sandro’s record stands at 19-2.

In other action from last night’s Bellator 48 card at the Mohegan Sun Arena, heavyweight champion Cole Konrad (8-0) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Paul Buentello (29-14) in their non-title fight, and Seth Petruzelli (14-6) stopped fellow UFC vet Ricco Rodriguez (47-12) in the first round.
