Pat Curran to Defend Bellator Featherweight Title Versus Daniel Strauss April 4th

By FCF Staff

Bellator has announced today that following his split decision victory over Patricio “Pitbull” Freire last month, featherweight champion Pat Curran will take on recent tourney winner Daniel Strauss, April 4th. The championship fight will be hosted by the Ovation Hall at Revel in Atlantic City, NJ.

The card will also feature Tiger Schulmann fighters Lyman Good and Munah Holland, as well as the promotional debut of Tom DeBlass.

“This may end up being the most challenging fight I’ve faced up this point,” Curran (18-4) was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “Daniel is going to make for a very tough challenge, but I know what I’m capable of. I feel like I’m always growing as a fighter, and the sky is really the limit for me. I’ve got the belt, and I’m not letting anyone take it away from me.”

Strauss (21-4) scored wins over Jeremy Spoon, Mike Corey and Marlon Sandro last spring to earn a title shot, and last October, he submitted Alvin Robinson at Bellator 78.

“Fighting for the Bellator Featherweight Title against Pat just signifies how my career has come full circle,” said Straus, who was stopped by Curran while competing for the XFO in 2009. “It was my loss to Pat that motivated me to become a better fighter. Now I get to see how much better I’ve actually gotten. Getting a chance to show my skills on Spike TV is a huge opportunity for me.  The stage keeps getting bigger and the viewers and eyes are growing.  I welcome the challenge to perform well in front of millions against one of the world’s best featherweights.  I feel I have a lot to provide in this fight and I intend on doing so.”

Bellator has also announced that Lyman Good will take on welterweight Dante Rivera, and that Munah Holland will fight 125 pound fighter Jessica Eye. Tom DeBlass will battle middleweight Carlos Brooks.

The April 4th card will be broadcast live on Spike.
