Pat Healy Looks Forward To UFC Return

Pat Healy

By Michael Hatamoto

MMA veteran Pat Healy will step into the cage for the first time since a submission loss at UFC Fight Night 6 in 2006, and hopes to continue his recent MMA success against Jim Miller.

I think Healy vs. Miller could be the type of fight that casual MMA fans might not appreciate, as both men are excellent grinders able to wear opponents down.

Here is what Healy said (via UFC.com):

“We work so hard in training and I put so much time into training that if you come out there and things don’t happen when you’re in an exciting fight, then you look back and analyze what you did wrong in training. Everybody wants to see an exciting fight, so that’s what you want to put on. I want to fight guys who are gonna fight me, and not run away, and Jim Miller’s the perfect opponent for that.”

I always admired Healy for his ability to get into the cage and force his opponents to fight his style of fight – and it might not be pretty, especially against Miller – but I believe he has the tenacity to grind out a win.

I believe if the fight turns into a grappling war that Healy has enough experience to scramble and position himself for a possible submission – but Healy is rightfully the underdog – and remains largely unknown by casual MMA fans.

However, Miller is experienced and will try to avoid allowing Healy to implement his game plan, and that could lead to the Team Quest fighter eating some hard shots.
