Paul Redmond’s return to Cage Warriors after an absence of almost seven years was certainly welcomed by a lot of fans, and the man himself is more than happy to be back.

“Redser” returns to the promotion with a 15-8 record, with 10 wins coming within the distance, and has fought in the UFC and various other promotions since leaving Cage Warriors in 2014.

In eight previous Cage Warriors appearances, Redmond recorded seven wins, with four submissions and two knockout wins.

“It’s great to be back, it was an easy decision to sign” said Redmond upon his return; ” I spent two or three years with Cage Warriors before and I always enjoyed my time there, some of my best wins have come there, and it has the best European division out there.”

Redmond returns to a lightweight division that is full of talent, and is very open about why he has returned, saying: “I believe in one or two fights I will fight for the belt.

“I want to come in and hit the ground running, and if I do what I know I can do, I don’t see why I won’t be getting a call for a shot at the belt soon.”

Redmond now has some UFC experience on his record but says it wasn’t what he wanted it to be, having made his debut on short notice and having to fight in a different weight class to what he normally does, but recognises that there will be fighters in the division that will see him as a big name and will want to have a win over a fighter that has fought in the UFC before.

“I think having those three letters after my name paints a huge target on my back, but my experience fighting in the UFC doesn’t reflect what I am capable of, I’m a different fighter now,” says Redmond.
