Paulo Costa Reports Undergoing Elbow Surgery Ahead of UFC 294

As it stands right now, Paulo Costa is still booked to fight Khamzat Chimaev on October 21st, although the fighter reportedly underwent surgery not long ago.
Costa is scheduled to battle the rising middleweight at UFC 294, which will take place in Abu Dhabi. Recently, however, the Brazilian contender reported via social media that he had surgery performed on his elbow three weeks ago.

The 32-year-old Costa (14-2) hasn’t competed since August, 2022, when he recorded a unanimous decision win over Luke Rockhold. Prior to that, Costa dropped consecutive fights to Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.
