Following his emphatic, stoppage win over Urijah Faber at UFC 245, Petr Yan believes he’s done his part to secure a title fight.
The Russian bantamweight faced Faber on the event’s main card, and he finished the hall of famer in round three with a head kick. After the impressive win, Yan had this to say, while talking to the media (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“I never envisioned my fight to go any way,” Yan said. “I just come to win, and I’m very glad I did it.”
“What do you guys think?” Yan said. “Do I deserve to fight for the title or not? I’ve had six wins inside a year-and-a-half. I think I deserve it.”
Prior to facing Faber, the 26-year-old Yan defeated fellow contender Jimmie Rivera by decision in June. “No Mercy” currently carries a record of 14-1 and Yan is ranked #4 in the UFC’s 135 division.
