Following his win over Cody Garbrandt, Rob Font is calling for a fight with Petr Yan, and the latter has responded with a warning shot.

Font faced Garbrandt last weekend at UFC Vegas 27, and outscored the former bantamweight champ for the decision win. The victory was Font’s fourth straight, and while speaking with MMA Fighting since then, the rising fighter said this.

“Best case scenario? They give me Petr Yan right now and we get it going. Maybe do it for an interim belt, but I doubt that happens. We’ll see what’s up, but give me Petr Yan. He’s the only one available, the fans want to see exciting fights and I know that’s an exciting fight and then I’ll take care of the belt for him. Just sit back, don’t worry about the belt, I’ll take it for him.”

Yan caught wind of the comments, as the former champ responded with this tweet.

“Don’t try to bite off more than you can chew. You couldn’t even knock Cody No Chin out with your pillow hands”

Right now, it’s not clear what’s next for Yan. The Russian star lost the bantamweight title to Aljamain Sterling via disqualification in March, after hitting the latter with an illegal knee.

Yan has called for an immediate rematch, but Sterling is coming off neck surgery. The champion expects to be ready to fight again in late summer, early fall.
