PFL 5: Gleison Tibau Receives Surprising Decision Win Over Rory MacDonald

Here are the results from the Professional Fighters League’s fifth event for 2021, which took place in Atlantic City.

In the main event, although Rory MacDonald outscored Gleison Tibau with strikes and controlled grappling exchanges, the latter was awarded a surprising, split decision win. MacDonald, however, had already clinched a berth in the welterweight playoffs.

PFL 5 featured action in the welterweight and light heavyweight divisions.

Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Vinny Magalhaes ends in no contest (groin strike) R1, 2:45

Cory Hendricks def. Marthin Hamlet via submission (rear-naked choke) R3, 4:09

Joao Zeferino def. Jason Ponet via submission (arm-triangle choke) R2, 2:16

Magomed Magomedkerimov def. Curtis Millender via submission (ezekiel choke) R1, 1:57

Tom Lawlor def. Jordan Young via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Sadibou Sy def. Alexey Kunchenko via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
