Phil Davis Wants Rematch With Vadim Nemkov, Following Latest Win
By FCF Staff
After moving his winning streak to three at Bellator 245, Phil Davis is calling for a rematch with new light heavyweight champ, Vadim Nemkov.
Davis took on the legend Lyoto Machida in the headliner of Bellator’s latest event on Friday, and emerged with split decision win. The victory was his third straight, since he lost via split decision to Nemkov in 2018.
While talking to the media afterward, the 35-year-old Davis had this to say about facing the new champ (quotes via MMA Junkie).
“He can fight whoever he wants to fight, but I know deep down inside a champion wants to fight that guy who was right on his ass,” Davis said. “I want that fight and I know he wants that fight.”
Davis (22-5) also expressed an interest in facing the recently signed, former UFC contender, Corey Anderson.
“Corey Anderson, he deserves a veterans welcome to the Bellator family,” Davis said. “But that would be something to talk about and maybe, only maybe, if Mr. Nemkov isn’t available.”
Nemkov (12-2) secured the light heavyweight title last month by stopping Ryan Bader at Bellator 244.
