“Rampage” Jackson Calls for Bout With Glover Teixeira
By FCF Staff
After watching Glover Teixeira record his second Octagon victory at UFC 153 this past weekend, the man who was originally supposed to face him, “Rampage” Jackson, is calling for a fight to be set up with the rising light-heavyweight.
Jackson took to Twitter recently to say:
Yo @danawhite set up that fight with Glover please! Lets give him what he wants..fans I won’t let u down #fightofthenight
Jackson had been scheduled to fight Teixeira, until an injury forced the former champion’s withdrawal. According to multiple reports, White tweeted “sounds good bro” in response to Jackson.
The 34 year-old Jackson (32-10), who is coming off back-to-back losses to current champion Jon Jones and more recently Ryan Bader, is set to enter free agency after his next bout. The veteran has expressed his desire to leave the promotion while contending that he could make more money elsewhere.
After Teixeira stopped Fabio Maldonado after two rounds of action at UFC 153, the 32 year-old relayed that he was still hoping that a bout with Jackson would materialize. Teixeira (19-2) tapped out Kyle Kingsbury during his Octagon debut in May and has won 17 straight fights.
