ACB 54: Andrew Devent to Face Danny Mitchell

By Press Release

On March the 11th MMA fans will gather at the Manchester Arena for ‘ACB 54: Supersonic’. This card is already pulling together some of the planet’s top MMA talents and big names looking to put it all on the line in the ACB cage with the action being presided over by a panel of top International judges and referees.

Many fighters will be looking to steal the spotlight on this card but that spotlight is already set heavily over middleweight division. Alongside the headline fight that puts ‘Champion against Champion’ between KSW’s middleweight champ Mamed Khalidov and Venator middleweight champ Luke Barnatt ACB have now added a fight between two of the UK’s best in the division when Lancashire’s Andrew ‘The Lions Paw’ Devent will take on the Yorkshire man Danny ‘The Cheesecake Assasin’ Mitchell.

The main event may have high stakes to see who walks away as the champion of champions but this bout has something equally as important on the line as the age old battle between Lancashire and Yorkshire will reignite the ‘War of the Roses’ once again and although there may not be gold on the line in this fight there is pride and neither one of these athletes will want to let their respective counties down.

Devent has hit a resurgence in his already highly decorated career with two first round finishes that saw him take out BAMMA’s number one contender Paul Byrne and reap revenge for a previous loss in his career on MMA veteran David Round. Both fights were finished in spectacular style and showed that age really is just a number and despite being in his late thirties he is still one of the most dangerous matchups for anyone to stand across the cage from. Devent has an all out aggressive style and is one of the best wrestlers in the division with explosive takedowns and heavy punches that can finish anyone he gets lays his hands on but he will need to decide if this is a fight he wants to take to the ground because his opponent, Mitchell, will be the highest level submission artist he has ever faced.

Mitchell is a UFC veteran finishing 17 of his 19 wins by finish and with 12 of those coming by way of submission. He also holds 2 finishes by way of the elusive ‘Twister’ which alone should tell you what sort of level ground game this life long martial artist has. Mitchell is without a doubt one of the characters of the sport and a fighter that once again proves the old adage that you should never judge a book by its cover because beneath his self-styled scruffy image lies one of the most technical martial artists this country has ever produced.

Both will be looking to prove their position in a division full of monsters but the ACB fans in attendance best not blink because between them these elite middleweights have 19 first-round finishes between them!

On March the 11th the War of the Roses will be relived once again! Who will come out smelling of roses and who will end up with a thorn in their side?
