AFC 7 Line-Up to be Released Soon, Robert Drysdale Not Competing

Robert Drysdale submitting Mike Nickels at AFC 6

Armageddon Fighting Championship’s upcoming, November 5th event in Colwood, British Columbia will not feature former ADCC champion and undefeated light-heavyweight Robert Drysdale.  When recently contacted by FCF to inquire if Drysdale would compete on the upcoming AFC card, the promotion’s Executive Producer and MMA vet Jason Heit responded:

“Robert will not be fighting in this AFC. We will book him in our next event TBA,” said Heit about Drysdale, who has scored wins over Bastien Huveneers, Clay Davidson and most recently former TUF competitor Mike Nickels, since transitioning into MMA with the promotion last year. “We are not sure who we will match him against yet but I would like to see him against someone that has very good BJJ. Robert has ripped guys apart on the ground extremely quickly; it is amazing to watch.”

Heit added that the line-up for the AFC 7 card should be released sometime this week.

Since the AFC began operations in the summer of 2009, the company has continued to promote events on Vancouver Island, but according to Heit “we are currently planning events in new US and Canadian markets for 2012; it will be a big year for us. We are also exploring the option to work with co-promoters, franchise options to get us more events in more cities.”

AFC 7 will be hosted by Colwood’s Bear Mountain Arena.

The promotion’s last event took place on June 18th, and in addition to Drysdale’s submission win over Nickels, also featured John Salter stopping fellow UFC vet Kalib Starnes.
