Yves Edwards and Jeremy Stephens will fight after all, as the UFC has announced that Stephens will replace the injured John Cholish at the promotion’s December 8th, UFC on FOX 5 card, after their initial encounter was canceled in October.

In what is now well documented history, Edwards and Stephens were supposed to fight at UFC on FX 5 in October; however, Stephens was arrested the day of the bout due to charges stemming from an alleged incident in Iowa.

Edwards was moved into a bout with Cholish, but a groin injury has forced the lightweight to withdraw from the fight.

Stephens (20-8) will be looking to rebound from back-to-back decision losses he’s incurred versus Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. Prior to the defeats the powerful striker earned consecutive wins over Marcus Davis and Daniel Downes.

Edwards (41-18-1) hasn’t competed since last December when he lost by unanimous decision to Tony Ferguson. The defeat came after he scored a stoppage victory over Rafaello Oliveira last October.

Edwards had been scheduled to fight Cerrone earlier this year, but an arm injury and surgery sent him to the sidelines.

UFC on FOX 5 will be hosted by Seattle’s KeyStone Arena and will feature a lightweight bout between champion Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz in the main event.
