Alexander Gustafsson Expecting to be Back “Very Soon”, Weighs in on Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier

Although a knee injury has cost Alexander Gustafsson his chance to rematch Jon Jones at UFC 178, the light-heavyweight contender doesn’t expect to be sidelined very long.
Recently it was announced that Gustafsson has torn meniscus in his knee, and as a result, he will not face the champion on September 27th. In a follow up interview with UFC.com, “The Mauler” said the injury is “not a big deal”, and that he’ll be out of action five to six weeks after he undergoes surgery.
As a result of Gustafsson’s withdrawal, Daniel Cormier will now face Jones, and here is how the Swedish fighter sees the bout going:
“It’s an interesting matchup,” Gustaffson said. “Both are great athletes and it’s going to be a tough fight for sure. But Jones has his height and reach advantage over DC, so I think that will be the key thing in this fight. I think Jones by decision.”
The 27 year-old Gustafsson also repeated that he “really” wants to fight Jones next.
UFC 178 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
