Alexis Davis vs. Rosi Sexton Added To UFC 161

Alexis Davis

By Timothy J. Gilbert

The UFC is breaking ground with its recent fight announcement between Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton.

Announced by UFC officials on Thursday, the bantamweight bout will mark the first time the UFC will sponsor women to fight in Canada.

Sexton (13-2) is 8-1 in her last nine fights, coming off of three straight wins. The ten year veteran has not lost since getting knocked out by Zoila Frausto Gurgel at Bellator 23 back in 2010. Sexton’s fight with Alexis Davis marks the English fighters’ first bout in over ten months.

The Canadian native Davis (13-5) is considered by many to be one of the world’s premier bantamweights. She is 5-1 in her last six fights with four victories coming by way of submission. She comes in to this fight hoping to extend her current two fight win streak of Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler.

The two women will clash at UFC 161 on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will be headlined by an interim bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Eddie Wineland.
