Alvarez vs. Chandler, Lombard vs. Prangley Confirmed for Bellator 58

Eddie Alvarez

By FCF Staff

After their initial meeting was postponed from this coming Saturday, Bellator has announced that its lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will face recent tourney winner Michael Chandler, November 19th in Hollywood, Florida.

Alvarez (22-2) hasn’t competed since April, when he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Pat Curran at Bellator 39. The former Bodog champion, who has won seven straight, was forced to postpone his October 15th bout with Chandler due to an undisclosed injury.

Chandler (8-0) has won eight straight bouts since the All American wrestler transitioned into MMA. Most recently in May, he scored a UD win over Patrick Freire to win Bellator’s lightweight tournament and a crack at Alvarez’s belt.

Lombard (30-2-1) will be looking to extend his awe inspiring 24 fight undefeated streak when he meets Prangley in a non-title bout. The Bellator Middleweight Champion is coming off a second round, heel hook submission win over Jesse Taylor last month while competing in Australia.

Prangley (23-8-1) is coming off back-to-back losses to Roger Gracie and more recently Tatsuya Mizuno, after earning a split decision win over Keith Jardine last September.

Bellator has also confirmed that Jessica Aguilar (11-4) will fight Lisa Ward (14-6) at Bellator 58. In their original meeting in February, 2006, Ward submitted Aguilar with a second round, rear-naked-choke.

In addition, former Sengoku featherweight champ Marlon Sandro (19-3) will be back in action and will fight veteran Rafael Dias (15-8-2).

Bellator 58 will be hosted by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and will be broadcast live on MTV 2.
