Alves vs. Kampmann, Condit vs. Koscheck Amongst Latest UFC Confirmations

By FCF Staff

The Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to confirm various match-ups for the promotion’s schedule over the coming months, and several established fighters have new fights to prepare for.

In an intriguing welterweight bout, former challenger Thiago Alves will take on Martin Kampmann at the UFC on FX 2 card, March 3rd.

Alves (19-8) is coming off a first round, submission win over Papy Abedi at UFC 138 earlier this month, to rebound from a unanimous decision loss he suffered versus Rick Story in May.

Kampmann (18-5) last competed at UFC 139 on November 19th, and battled his way to a split decision win over the aforementioned Story, after losing extremely competitive bouts by decision to Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez.

The UFC on FX 2 card, which will be broadcast on the FX channel, has yet to have a location and venue confirmed.

As Josh Koscheck previously reported, the UFC has confirmed that the welterweight vet will face contender Carlos Condit at UFC 143 on February 4th.

Koscheck (16-5) will be competing for the first time since he knocked out former champion Matt Hughes in September, while Condit (27-5) stopped Dong Hyun Kim in his last outing at UFC 132 in July.

The UFC has also announced that Octagon newcomer Michael Kuiper (11-0)  will make his debut at UFC 143 against middleweight Rafael Natal (13-3-1).

The February 4th event will be hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

In addition, the promotion has announced four more bouts that have been added to the upcoming January 20th, UFC on FX 1 card in Nashville, Tenessee.

At featherweight, Mike Brown (25-8) will take on Vagner Rocha (7-2), MFC light-heavyweight champ Ryan Jimmo (16-1) will fight Karlos Vemola (8-2), UFC newcomer Reza Madadi (11-2) will meet lightweight Rafaello Oliviera (14-5) and Jorge Rivera (19-9) will battle middleweight Eric Schafer (12-6-2).

The card will be hosted by Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
