Anderson Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar Set for UFC 153
Fabio Maldonado taking on Glover Teixeira, “Minotauro” Nogueira versus Dave Herman Confirmed

Despite relaying not too long ago that his 2012 campaign was finished, Anderson Silva has decided to help out the injury plagued UFC 153 card and will move up to light-heavyweight to face Stephan Bonnar. In addition, the promotion has announced that Fabio Maldonado will fight Glover Teixeira, and that an expected bout between “Minotauro” Nogueira and Dave Herman is also inked for the October 13th event.
Since Silva (32-4) took out rival Chael Sonnen in the second round at UFC 148 in July, the middleweight champ and his management didn’t warm to the idea of fighting contender Chris Weidman before the year was out.
Silva reportedly offered his services at light-heavyweight to help save the doomed UFC 151 card, and with featherweight champ Jose Aldo injured, the promotion was in need of a big name to shore up UFC 153.
Bonnar (15-7) is currently riding a three fight win streak which includes wins over Krzysztof Soszynski, Igor Pokrajac and most recently Kyle Kingsbury.
Maldonado (18-5) is stepping in for the injured “Rampage” Jackson, after having his UFC on FX 5 bout with Jorgen Kruth cancelled, when Kruth recently announced he was retiring.
Teixeira (18-2) is coming off a successful Octagon debut in May, when he tapped out the aforementioned Kingsbury with a first round, arm-triangle-choke.
UFC 153 will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena.
