Despite Anderson Silva’s recent issues with the UFC, and the promotion’s refusal to have him fight Yoel Romero for an interim title, the legend’s co-manager believes “The Spider” is far from done.

Silva has been critical of the UFC’s decision to grant Georges St-Pierre a title fight with middleweight champ, Michael Bisping. In addition, Silva said he’s “done”, if the UFC doesn’t table a fight with Yoel Romero for an interim 185 belt. UFC President Dana White has said that’s not going to take place, and recently Silva posted a statement discussing the value of saying no.

The Brazilian star’s co-manager, Jorge Guimares, spoke with MMA Junkie. Guimares said that Silva “feels like every time those guys need him, he steps up to the plate, and it doesn’t happen the other way around”. Silva has taken short notice fights to help the UFC. Last July, the legend agreed to fight Daniel Cormier on days notice, after Jon Jones was pulled from UFC 200 due to a USADA flag.

Guimares also said, however, that he believes Silva is “far from retired”.  The 42 year-old star is coming off a tightly contested, decision win over Derek Brunson in February.
