Andrei Arlovski vs. Tim Sylvia IV Booked For ONE FC: “Pride of a Nation”

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from reports that Tim Sylvia was on the verge of returning to the ZUFFA fold via a new Strikeforce contract, ONE FC has announced he will fight Andrei Arlovski for a fourth time on August 31st.

The bout will be part of the rising promotion’s “Pride of a Nation” card, which will be hosted by the  Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines.

The 36 year-old Sylvia (31-7) is riding a three fight win streak and is 7-3 in his last 10 bouts. Most recently in June, he stopped Randy Smith in 12 seconds while fighting for New England Fights.

There were reports recently that Sylvia was being brought in to fight Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix winner Daniel Cormier in October; however, Frank Mir was eventually confirmed for the bout.

The 33 year-old Arlovski (17-9) is coming off back-to-back stoppage wins over Travis Fulton and Ray Lopez, after losing four straight.

The former UFC champions fought each other twice in 2006 and once in 2005, and after Arlovski won their first encounter at UFC 51, Sylvia took the following two bouts at UFC 59 and 61 respectively.

ONE FC had previously announced that Arlovski would fight Soa Palelei.

Some of the other bouts scheduled for the upcoming ONE FC include Bibiano Fernandes vs. Gustavo Falciroli, Felipe Enomoto vs. Eduard Folayang, Eric Kelly vs. Jens Pulver, Phil Baroni vs. Rodrigo Ribeiro and Tony Bonello vs. Rolles Gracie.
