By FCF Staff
Following Antonio Carlos Junior’s latest victory at UFC Fight Night 119, the Brazilian fighter outlined why he’s interested in fighting former middleweight champ, Chris Weidman.
Carlos Junior took on Jack Marshman at the event, and submitted him in round one with a rear-naked-choke. The win extended the vaunted grappler’s winning streak to four. After the card, Carlos Junior had this to say about why he’d like to battle Weidman (quote via MMA Junkie):
“He’s a big name, and I’m a huge fan,” Carlos Junior. “It would be great to share the octagon with him. He’s beat a lot of Brazilians like Anderson Silva two times – the greatest of all-time. He beat Vitor Belfort. He beat Lyoto Machida. He beat Demian Maia. So it would be great to represent my country against him.”
Leading up to UFC FN 119, Carlos Junior was not ranked in the top 15, while Weidman is currently positioned at #5.
