August 18th Strikeforce Title Fight Between Ronda Rousey and Sarah Kaufman Confirmed

Rousey

By FCF Staff

As expected would be the case, Strikeforce has announced today that women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will fight former champ Sarah Kaufman, at the promotion’s upcoming August 18th event.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the fight today on a teleconference media call. The event will be hosted by San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center.

Rousey (5-0) remains undefeated since the accomplished Judo competitor transitioned into MMA, as the former Olympian and bronze medalist is coming off a first round, submission win over Miesha Tate in March.

All five of the 25 year-old fighter’s win have come via first round, armbar.

Kaufman (15-1) has won three straight fights since she lost the belt to Marloes Coenen, in October, 2010, as the 26 year-old has scored wins over Megumi Yabushita, Liz Carmouche and most recently Alexis Davis.

Tickets go on sale for the event this Friday.
