BAMMA 34: Fabian ‘The Assassin’ Edwards Joins Card

By Press Release

[19.01.18 London] BAMMA today confirm a further three bouts for the BAMMA 34: Lohore Vs. Brazier fight card.

BAMMA 34: Lohore Vs. Brazier takes place at the SSE Arena, Wembley, London on Friday 9th March. Tickets are on sale now from bamma.com

Middleweight Bout

Fabian ‘The Assassin’ Edwards Vs. Kent ‘Hammer Horn’ Kauppinen

The BAMMA breakout star of 2017 makes his first appearance of 2018 as he steps in against his most experienced opponent to date. Edwards is aiming firmly for Mike ‘Sea Bass’ Shipman’s BAMMA World title, but first he must clear negotiate the formidable obstacle of Kent Kauppinen on March 9th. Undefeated in his career thus far, ‘The Assassin’ has been claiming victories across the BAMMA Middleweight division and he expects this fight to be no different. However, Kauppinen doesn’t intend to be another stepping stone for Edwards and with far more experience than anyone else Fabian has ever faced, he is not backing down from the challenge either. To claim the win, Kauppinen will need to do what 13 fighters before him have been unable to do and solve the Fabian Edwards riddle.

Welterweight Bout

Justin Burlinson Vs. Tommy ‘KO’ King

In a bout that sees a classic striker against submission match up, two of the rising stars of the division face off against each other with their unbeaten records on the line. Burlinson made an immeadiate impact at BAMMA Newcastle this past December when he swept aside fellow up and coming prospect Josh ‘Power’ Plant in the first round, with a rear naked choke in just under 3 minutes. Tommy ‘KO’ King brings a wealth of experience from a storied K1 career and scored his first MMA victory over James ‘Monkey Boy’ Reedman at BAMMA 31, when he defeated Reedman with a combination of punches that had the bout stopped in just over a minute.

Welterweight Bout

Josh ‘Power’ Plant Vs. John ‘No Mercy’ Nicholls

After BAMMA Newcastle, Josh ‘Power’ Plant makes his second BAMMA appearance and is looking to chalk up his first win. Ready to make his mark and prove a point to all the doubters, the Impact MMA fighter is ready to turn up the heat on ‘No Mercy’ when he makes his debut on March 9th. Nicholls made his pro debut in 2017, marking up two victories and he is now ready to step up to the elite level on the biggest European stage. Yet to go the distance in their pro careers, this could be one of those blink and you’ll miss it bouts at the SSE Arena, when two young forces collide.

Additional Information

Fabian ‘The Assassin’ Edwards (3-0) Winner of BAMMA’s breakout star of 2017 award, the Birmingham based Middleweight has his eyes set on the BAMMA Middleweight Title in 2018. Unafraid to take the fight anywhere, the UTC man has 8 T/KO stoppages and 3 submission victories in his unblemished career, with only one fight going the distance. Claiming that there is no one who can stop him, his record backs up that claim and with his brother and former BAMMA Welterweight title holder Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards in his corner, he has the ammunition to back up his fire power in the cage.

Kent ‘Hammer Horn’ Kauppinen (10-2) The Dragonslair MMA fighter will be making his BAMMA debut at the SSE Arena in March and has been fighting since 2009. Having fought in several different weight classes, he seems to have finally found a home at Middleweight. He will be by far the most experienced fighter that Edwards has ever faced and will be looking to put all that experience to good use on March 9th, and manage to do what no one else has before him and have his hand raised at the end of the fight. With 7 of his 10 victories coming by T/KO and 3 by submission, this all rounder is ready to spring a huge upset.

Justin Burlinson (2-0) Placing a marker down in December when he submitted Josh Plant at BAMMA Newcastle in just under 3 minutes, the submission specialist has been making waves for a long while in the North East and everyone in BAMMA’s Welterweight division has been taking notice. Despite the deep waters of the Welterweight division, Burlinson is already being picked for big things this year and defeating Tommy King will certainly place a huge marker down on March 9th.

Tommy ‘KO’ King (1-0) The renowned K1 fighter made the successful transition to MMA last year when he decimated James ‘Monkey Boy’ Reedman in the first round of his debut at BAMMA 31. With lethal power in his hands, he is more than a problem for anyone on the feet in the division. The Team King & Country Boy JuJitsu fighter has been expanding his ground game over the past few months, and will be aiming to surprise the crowds in attendance if the fight makes its way to the ground during the fight. King wants to build his record as the year begins and the reputation of Burlinson will certainly be a big one to take.

Josh ‘Power’ Plant (1-1) The Impact MMA fighter didn’t get off to the start he had hoped for at BAMMA Newcastle. Undeterred, the 25 year old Leicester man will be out to right the wrongs from last December. The multi dimensional Plant has a strategy in place for this fight and is not planning on making it go the distance, as he has only gone to the judges once in his career. Likely to get off to a quick start, Plant wants to put on a show come March 9th.

John ‘No Mercy’ Nicholls (2-0) is a proven finisher. With both of his pro fights being stopped in the first round, ‘No Mercy’ lives up to his nickname. The Keddles Gym fighter comes with a background in striking but scored a submission victory in his pro debut. One of Keddles stand out students, Nicholls now gets to prove his worth on the biggest stage possible at an early stage in his career.
