Bellator 132: Patricio “Pitbull” Defends Belt With Fourth Round Submission
By FCF Staff
Patricio “Pitbull” Freire retained Bellator’s Featherweight Championship tonight in Temecula, California, by tapping out a very game, Daniel Straus in the fourth.
Straus pushed Freire throughout the opening rounds of the main event, and as round four began, the former champ was likely ahead on the scorecards. After a bloodied “Pitbull” took Straus down late in the fourth round, however, the champion worked his way into a fight ending, rear-naked-choke.
The bout marked the second time Freire has defeated Straus now, as the Brazilian fighter earned a UD win over the American in 2011.
