On Febraury 27th, Liam McGeary will challenge reigning Bellator champ Emanuel Newton, and the light-heavyweight is confident that the promotion’s belt is heading back with him to Britain.

McGeary has worked his way into a title fight with Newton, thanks to a 6-0 run he’s recorded since he joined the promotion in 2013. McGeary has scored finishes in all nine of his pro bouts to date.

In a recent press release sent out from the fighter’s camp, McGeary was quoted saying the following:

“I really don’t know how he’s going to back that one up” said McGeary, in response to Newton’s reported dismissal of the light-heavyweight. “I am going to beat him up everywhere, I won’t let any chances slip and the belt is coming back to Britain – I just can’t wait (until February 27th) to stop having the fight in my head and have it for real!”.

Newton, meanwhile, is currently riding a seven fight win streak, which includes victories over “King Mo” Lawal, Joey Beltran and most recently, Linton Vassell.

Bellator 134 will be hosted by the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
