Bellator 138: Patricio “Pitbull” to Face Georgi Karakhanyan

Patricio "Pitbull" Freire

By FCF Staff

Bellator’s June 19th card in St. Louis will feature the promotion’s featherweight champ Patricio “Pitbull” Freire taking on former WSOF champ Georgi Karakhanyan. The promotion has confirmed that the bout will co-headline Bellator 138, which will feature Ken Shamrock taking on “Kimbo Slice” in the headliner.

Freire (23-2) is coming off a thrilling, fourth round submission win over Daniel Straus in January, which extended his winning streak to six. The only men who have defeated the Brazilian to date are former Bellator champs Pat Curran and Joe Warren.

Karakhanyan (24-4-1) returned to Bellator in January and choked out Bubba Jenkins in the first round. The American fighter has gone 9-1 in his last 10 bouts, and the only man to defeat him during that run is now former WSOF champ, Rick Glenn.

Freire and Karakhanyan fought before in 2011 and “Pitbull” won the bout via third round, stoppage.

Here is the updated line-up to date for Bellator 138, which will be hosted by the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The main card will be broadcast on SPIKE.

Bellator Heavyweight Main Event: Kimbo Slice (4-2) vs. Ken Shamrock (28-15-2)

Bellator Featherweight Title Fight: Champ Patricio Pitbull (23-2) vs. Georgi Karakhanyan (24-4-1)

Bellator Featured Lightweight Fight: Michael Chandler (12-3) vs. Derek Campos (15-4)
