Bellator 174: Julia Budd Captures Inaugural Women’s 145 Title, Marloes Coenen Retires

Bellator has its first, women’s featherweight champion, as Julia Budd stopped Marloes Coenen on Friday to secure the inaugural title.

After the bout, the veteran Coenen announced she’s retiring from professional MMA (quote via Bellator press release):

“Theres only one message that I want to give out to all the fighters out there and that’s please listen to your body. I’m very proud of all the women in MMA and I’m very grateful for Bellator,” said Coenen, who went 23-8 during her career. “This company picked me up when I was in a dark place and Scott Coker has given me so many opportunities throughout my career. Bellator MMA will always be my home.”
